Cresco owners Taleb Abidali and Hossein Mousavi
recognized a long time ago that success is built on a lot more than skill
and experience.
If you were to ask them to name a chief factor responsible for Cresco's amazing
achievements, they would point to the company's will and ability to blaze
new trails, thanks to visionary practices and progressive thinking.
Taleb Abidali, BPE
A native of Iraq, Mr. Abidali’s background is quite diverse, including
careers as a physical education teacher in Iraq and former owner of a very
successful construction company in Kuwait. Married with six children, Mr.
Abidali joined Mr. Mousavi as a partner in 1994. A strong proponent of lifelong
education and cultural diversity, Mr. Abidali serves as an Advisory member
on the Bedford South School Board, and he helped develop the Nova Scotia Immigration
Strategy 2004. Mr. Abidali is also an honorary member of the National Register’s
Who’s Who of Executives & Professionals.
"We are forever grateful to Nova Scotia. The people have the
best work ethic and the community has really embraced us. We will always do
our best to return the favour." ~ Taleb Abidali, Cresco
principal
Hossein Mousavi, BSc.
Founder of Cresco in 1989, Mr. Mousavi came to Nova Scotia from his birthplace
in Iran to study at St. Francis Xavier University. Graduating with a science
degree, his plans of attending medical school changed and he eventually followed
his heart into home renovation, before starting his own construction company.
Married to Cape Bretoner Darlene Bailey and father of three, Mr. Mousavi is
widely respected for his visionary business approaches to community building.
An original member of the Urban Development Institute, his ideas and input
on industry trends are regularly sought by organizations ranging from CMHC
to the Greater Halifax Partnership.
"Canada is very large with immense opportunity. But I chose
Halifax because of its size and family values. We love the culture here. It’s
quiet and friendly, perfect for children and a healthy lifestyle.” ~
Hossein Mousavi, Cresco founder
